Grow Rodeo Scholarship

The Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit, along with Montana Valley Irrigation, is proud to announce a new youth scholarship program, "Grow Rodeo", focused on rodeo camp attendance. Montana youth ages six years to 21 years are eligible. During the 2022 PRCA rodeo season, MVI will provide as many as 28 $100 scholarships. Grow Rodeo winners will be selected and personally notified June 1, 2022. Those winners will then be publicly recognized at the Montana PRCA rodeo nearest to their home during the summer season.

 

Additionally, MVI will offer three $500 Grow Rodeo scholarships to be awarded at the Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit Finals January 12-14, 2023. Anyone is eligible along the same criteria, even if they previously won a camp scholarship.

Eligibility & Criteria

Whereas Montana Valley Irrigation wishes to promote and grow the sport of rodeo for Montana youth;
Whereas Montana Valley Irrigation encourages young athletes to gain training and knowledge to
compete successfully and healthfully;
Whereas Montana Valley Irrigation is proud to make available annual rodeo camp scholarships; so,
It is understood that Montana Valley Irrigation shall provide funding for youth rodeo scholarships
across Montana beginning June 1, 2022.


Eligibility:

▪ Must be 6 years old as of January 1, 2022 and no older than 21 years old as of December 31, 2022
or prior to that date
▪ Applicant must reside in the state of Montana
▪ No restrictions as to camp, workshop, seminar or class attended, including location
▪ Eligible rodeo events: bareback (or mini bronc) riding, saddle bronc riding, bull (or steer) riding,
steer wrestling, team roping, tie-down roping, barrel racing, breakaway roping
▪ Any camp focusing solely on an event not listed above shall not be eligible for this scholarship;
example: goat tying, team sorting, cutting, working ranch horse, etc.

Scholarship Criteria for Recipients:

▪ Winner may win up to two $100 scholarships per year
▪ All winners are eligible for a separate year-end scholarship of $500 to be awarded at the 2022
Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit Finals January 12-14, 2023. New applicants also welcome beginning Nov 1, 2022.
▪ This is a drug- and alcohol-free program; recipients convicted of any misdemeanor or felony are
automatically ineligible
▪ Recipients injured prior to the camp may choose to use the scholarship for a subsequent camp;
must be used within 18 months from date of injury
▪ Scholarship expires one year from date of issuance (except for injury, as noted above)
▪ Scholarship may not be transferred to any other party
▪ For applicants under 18 years of age, a parent MUST sign the application


Applications will be received by Helen Music (info below) and winners determined by Montana Valley
Irrigation. All applications must be submitted by December 15, 2022 5pm. Notification to winners will take place Jan3, 2023. Scholarship funds will be distributed to winners at the 2022 Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit Finals Jan 12-14, 2023.
